An idea of layout for a low drag motorized light have slowly come to mind. I do not think the idea is new, someone can probably point at something similar. Anyway, here is a side view created with paint, as I do not have got around to learn any fancy visualization software. Just realize it is a sketch of an idea, not a visually nor technical worked out design.
A layout like this should make laminar flow achievable over the front part of the fuselage and wing. With the engine well aft of the wing interference may be minimized and there is no need for a long driveshaft with the troubles that bring. Probably not an ideal design, but a possible solution instead of twin booms. Maybe the wing could be possible to rotate on the pylon for more compact storage?
