Recently acquired "Zero time" 0-320 lyc with logs, data plate, all seem to match. Was "overhauled" in 2004 by a A&P (passed away) in MN. Orange paint on cylinders indicate chrome cyls. Supposed to be "preserved" after overhaul.
Purchased from guy who bought it thinking an air boat/sled....nothing happened. Presumed to be 3rd owner.
I mounted it on a stand, tried to turn over, no joy. put on wood prop, was able to turn over with considerable effort. Turns smoothly, mags snap, but with resistance. Could "preserving" oil/spray turned gummy/ varnish?
Of course, I intend to eventually tear it down, check and bring up to new standards, but for now is there a solvent, something to dissolve the gunk (kerosene?) that I can put in engine to preserve and protect it until overhaul?
Any thoughts?
