Better fit here, and the latter is not a catch-all topic.

Does any human-carrying aircraft use foamboard construction?
I believe the OP is referring to what is more-properly called "Foam Core", a product with a foam core with heavy paper cardstock facing sheets bonded to it. It is a sandwich material, available from most hobby and craft stores in sheets of various sizes. The original Hovey Whing Ding used the then-new foam core sheets (with plywood reinforcement in high-stress areas) for the horizontal tail. That's the only aviation use of which I'm aware.

Foam core is very interesting stuff, but while it might find good use as ribs I wouldn't use it for higher-stress primary structure. It's incredibly sensitive to dings and dents in the face sheets, which are all too easy to do in normal handling.
