Hello All,

I recently got my PPL and also am building an ultralight and my dad is all gung ho to start flying as well. He did fly before I was born and stopped just short of the checkride with most of his time in a C170 and Luscomb. He wants the low and slow type of flying but also likes the enclosed cockpit. This will not be registered Part 103 as its already well over that. He will need to get his sport pilot rating. He will likely fly out of the Camarillo Ultralight field which has an 1100' runway. So now to my questions.

  • How forgiving is the FP-202 as a light tailwheel aircraft?
  • Current engine is a Zenoah G50 with electric start, but he is open to swapping it over to 4 stroke.
  • He is 6'3" 225lbs as am I, will we fit?

I believe Pops on here has a bit of experience with these...

Open to any advice and or suggestions.

Marc
