Hey all,

So I have ordered a Maule-style leaf-sprung tailwheel for my Bearhawk, but I now wonder if I should have looked at re-designing to a Cessna stinger... it would not have been hard, and experimental tailwheel stingers are easy to come by at the same price. The original designer (Bob) changed to a stinger instead of a leaf spring on the Bearhawk Patrol.

What is the collective wisdom of HBA on the subject?

I am thinking in terms of durability and survivability in the bush. From the stories I hear, most aircraft which get stuck overnight at mountain airstrips are falling victim to a damaged tailwheel assembly.
