leading edge flaps

I was wondering if leading edge flaps could be used on a canard pusher type of plane. I'd assume trailing edge flaps would generally be out of the question because they'd move the center of lift too far aft and you'd quickly run out of pitch authority.

This is just theoretical, I have no airplanes to test this on, other than the ones in my head. :)
