Towed a T-45C (American version of the BAe Hawk?) into the hangar the other day because of coming weather.

When I saw the slotted flap I assumed that it was a fowler flap.

Nope. . . it looks like a simple hinge.

I knew (in the deep recesses of my brain) that this combination was possible but I didn't realize that it was in use anywhere.

It just goes to show that there are a multitude of options in designing an airplane. :)
