I want an all metal FW190A Two seater that flys about like the RV8. I'd love to buy a kit, but since none are available that meet my requirements, I want to try to scratch build. I've got years, and I know the road is a long one. I bought a few books on homebuilt design, and scoured the web. I've written a performance (requirements)
brief and basic design parameters. Where Do I get started to get the necessary skills to design and build an airplane? I had a W.A.R FW190, but I sold it not yet complete and want to do one a bit bigger and all aluminum, fully monocoque with 2 seats. I have most of the blueprints for the real FW190, and was thinking on modeling the construction methods after the RV8 for much of it(have access to RV detail info). I'm thinking about the Rotec 3800 to power it, or maybe even the MP14. I've got good basic metal fab skills, a small machine shop and a tig welder, but really have no idea how to start on the design and who to take it to for validation, correction and design of the detail bits, as well as the construction methods/jigs etc. that one would normally make. I've got 3d cad too, and was planning to build a full digital model first if I knew what I was designing to.

Thoughts?

Thanks.
