I'm looking for opinions on Hirth engines. Any experiences? Good? Bad? Better alternatives?

My project needs an engine in the 55-60hp range, and I've some concerns about weight (a VW would be too heavy), so I've been giving some serious consideration to the Hirth 3202. I believe I'm willing and able to do the regular maintenance required with a two-stroke engine.

The rumblings I've heard so far about Hirth basically have been variants on, "Great engines; a little spendy."

I don't mind 'a little spendy' if it's a good, reliable motor.

What have you heard/experienced?
