According to William Wynne, the Corvair Guy, about 20 years ago he was just about done with a "a perfect 66% scale P-38 Lighting, powered by two Corvairs."

"The quality of the work was astounding, he had first built plugs, then hard molds, and only then bagged parts out of the molds. The nacelles and center section had a steel tube truss inside. The engines were direct drive, but had long prop extensions with roller bearings. It had already retracted the gear, and the cockpit was built."

William lost touch with the gentleman shortly after visiting him in 1999. Any of you Southern California desert rats know anything about this Marine and/or his project? Apparently he also flew a Knight Twister with 180 hp.
