Big Iron on a budget

Let's say you have always dreamed of owning a Reno Racer, or some WWII heavy iron. Unfortunately if you are like me, even if one of these things magically appeared in my hanger, I couldn't even afford the gas to fly on the weekends, let alone maintenance insurance etc.

Even the cost of a 200-300 hp 6 cylinder and CS prop causes my stomach to hurt.

What to do....

I propose the following.

Step 1: buy a Chevy LS3. Put a lumpy cam in it for effect, one that doesn't kill the low end. Should make 250hp @ 3000 rpm all day forever.

Step 2: Build a direct drive set up like Witman did for the Buick V8, But use a plain bearing instead of a roller bearing so you can run a CS prop.

Step 3: Buy the quick build wing from mustang aero for the M2 center section and the M1 wings. Put them together so all the flaps work.

Step 4: Make some gear like this Guy

Step 5: Move the tail aft and size appropriately.

Step 6 : Bend metal to look like this:
