This looks fun for coastal exploring. A safe way to fly low perhaps.
It also looks like the hovercraft is more forgiving than a seaplane that might have a problem with porpoising. And of course, an air cushion is softer than a rigid hull.
Would probably be lighter if the hovercraft was designed for flight from the start.
I know the Lake Amphibian company did this in the past, it is nothing new, but still interesting.
