I've decided to put my FP-404 up for sale. I've had a lot of fun with it, but it's time for a change. This plane was the subject of articles in the February and March 2017 issues of Kitplanes magazine.

Hey, I saw and enjoyed the February article (don't think the March one has made it yet) and didn't make the connection that it was you. Nicely done. What are you changing to?

That's cheap in my opinion. Looks like a real value.

Looking at a Starduster at the moment, but a Smith Mini, Baby Lakes, EAA bipe, or similar would do as well. I want a plane that's faster, climbs better and will do basic acro.

What are the speeds of this airplane and how much fuel does it hold? What is the usable fuel? How many total hrs on airframe and engine? Weights empty and wet with pilot.

A Pitts S-1S is easier to build than any of those. Once you get into aerobatics, you will wish for the Pitts.

Agreed. I have a full set of new baby lakes wings I built. The whole time I built it is was wishing it was a Pitts. If you're gonna build a small biplane you'd need to talk yourself out of a Pitts.

That Pitts #1 replica is cool. Imagine how fun a bare bones light pitts would be.

We have a gent who flies a Pitts who has an acro box off to the side of our runway. I love going out and watching him doing loops and such. Every now and then he will do a touch and go. The sound of that airplane is awesome.

This was the video that made me realize that in the world of little bipes the Pitts was the only one worth pursuing. I love how you sit in a Pitts. Even a tall guy fits.

I should have added a caution. Once you get comfortable flying an S-1S, you will never fly another general aviation airplane that handles as well; you will be thoroughly spoiled. But then, why not experience the best?

I'm not building, don't have the time this decade. The Starduster I'm looking at is currently flying and considerably cheaper than any Pitts I've seen. It should be better at short fields than any low powered (i.e. affordable) Pitts, and I won't need a medical. But yeah, I'd love a Pitts (maybe someday).

Dana, sorry about drifting your for sale thread, I had no right to do that. I started getting excited about Pitts and got all flustered and carried away. Haha.

Stardusters are awesome! Incredibly beautiful airplane.

Dana I see you posted this on Barnstormers. You show pics with radio and GPS. Do these go with the airplane?

If you get the Starduster, you definitely will be flying in style.

The GPS is just my phone running Avare so no, and I plan to keep the radio, too.

Flying to Memphis to look at the 'duster next weekend.
