I am progressing on my initial design work and am stumbling on the compromises necessary due to lack of airplane and piloting experience. The plane willbe a single seater sort of half way between an ultralight and a Piper vagabond. <600#'s empty, 1000# gross, designed for small non electric A65 Continental, cross country not a high priority.

Wing Design already decided on

28' span, rectangular, 15% airfoil, calculated stall speed 40 mph at 4500' density altitude, stiff wing, wooden construction and vg's.

Here's my problem. Do I design a large simple wing with ailerons only, follow UL style and design full span flaperons, or build a flap/aileron to allow a little downsizing and better short field performance? I want excellent takeoff and landing performance for a low power low and slow kite.
