I emphasize to all that we should take at minimum a “professional attitude” to building and flying. This is a big hobby of much importance to most of us, so sturdy and reasonable good looking should be present. Perfect. Maybe, but solidly airworthy is a must.
I know folks who won’t paint their Vans until it gets out of Phase I, but my composite bird will get a full coat of white epoxy primer to keep UV off the epoxy structure and then Sport Yellow PU to keep the primer together. If I have to change cowling inlets/outlets or make adjusted control surfaces, my shop will see more cycles of epoxy primer and Sport Yellow.
