A few questions, that my google fu is failing on.

Background: I am considering buying a used E-AB plane which has traditional Conti IO-550-G.

The plane comes up about 10% short in terms of reserve range for a few flights I would like to accomplish running LOP.
If I change the compression from 8.5 to 10.5, and install an electronic ignition and fuel injection to replace the mechanical systems, how hard is the job and what sort of possible improvement in fuel burn would I get in cruise? Note: I am not looking for more power, I am focused on the efficiency.

Are there other options to increase engine efficiency?

Tim
