This 1980 Flying magazine article, (page 42) proposed an electric powered Beech Bonanza that would cruise at 30,000 feet. Using a tank of Hydrogen Peroxide (50% for safety) and lithium metal that would make DC power, but not a battery. The lithium would be recycled. Similar to an electric torpedo.

And it discussed Gasahol as well, which we complain about today. The Wankel cycle engine was also discussed. H2O2 is a nasty chemical at high concentrations, it is used in my industry. It does break down quickly if spilled tho, no flash fires, etc to worry about....but corrosion?? I'd doubt that you would ever have any antique H2O2 powered birds if it does come about....amazing what it will do to stainless steel tanks over time.
