There is more than one succesful conversion of vw boxer. And more than one failure. Yes, they need to be reved past 3000 rpm for good power, they tend to weight more.

But - a nice dv6, used in gazaile weight 107 kg per 100 hp of useable power. Beeing 30% more fuel efficient - for any longer mission it will weight less in total motor + fuel.

Yes ot will need a damper, but its curve is totally ok for 95 hp at 2500 rpm.

But - if it is not a pusher, you need to be a fan of sperm whales to like.

So - do we need more than custom oil pan and some extra oil return from head and turbo to lie engine on side ? Inverted ones are harder than redrive..
