So I'm finally getting started on the delta. I actually haven't had the plans long but a new baby has been my top priority for the last couple of weeks. Now that I've been able to sleep a little I decided to get a little work done. At first updates are probably going to be a little sporadic. After a while I hope things will be more consistent.

Anyway, I've gathered up some of the materials I need to get started. All the sheet metal in the plane is .025 aluminum. Either 2024 or 6061, you have a choice. I'm using 2024. Spar caps are aluminum angle and there are random 4130 plate fittings throughout the plane.

The plans have you start with the main spar. It's located about 2/3 chord of the wing just behind the pilot. It's made up of 1/8 inch angle spar caps and .025 spar web with .025 stiffeners. I only had about two and a half hours but I got a lot done.

Center section main spar and cap. Yes they're curved.

That's it for today hopefully more to come soon.

Not moving to fast right now but I figured I'd do an update.

Started fitting the Spar caps and spar stiffeners. Also have all the wing fold weldments done but forgot a picture. Going to start forming ribs for the outer panels tomorrow.

Since this isn't a big post I figured I'd add a couple other projects I'm working on.

That's all for now.

Hey guys, just a little update for you on this project.

The slowdown was do to a couple of things. The first was simply life. It's been hard to find time for my project when i spend all day building planes for a living. I've set a schedule in place that should help. The second thing is the changes I've been making. I've done some modifications to the Delta that I'm incorporating into a composite version I've designed. Ive incorporated the changes into the Verhees design so I can test them. These changes had to be modeled before I could move forward with building. The main aerodynamic changes can be seen in the picture below.

I've started working on making parts again. I'll start adding more pictures in the next few weeks.
