I want to attach a bolt at right angles to a vertical piece of aluminum skin, for use as one end mounting of a 40# gas strut. I'm picturing a bent aluminum sheet channel with flanges ( kind of like _/-\_). I'm not comfortable with a bolt and large washer on thin skin <G>. Accessability and constructablility are leaning me towards the riveted flanges mentioned. Any thopughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, Dick
