It would help your Sales efforts if you listed your location?

Some photos of the work completed would probably help, too.

Of course. Sorry. Location is central Colorado. I've got a work deadline coming up in 2 weeks but once things calm down, I'll get some pictures and hopefully some video of the project posted to my website. Thx for the replies.Andy

Hmm, the Davis DA-2A is a plans built aircraft, so I imagine by "kit" you mean the engine, plans, materials and some components?

It is my understanding that you could buy it in "kit" form even tho it was a plans-built design. I stumbled upon an online article saying that a basic kit came in a 4FT X 8FT crate and a cardboard tube 8 IN in diameter. So there may have been a couple of "kits" out there-I really don't know. The beauty of the design is it's simplicity. Mr Davis liked to avoid compound curves and keep things simple so an amateur could knock one together pretty easily. I just got this project and it's going to take a while to inventory and photograph everything but I will just as soon as I get caught up with work.

Oh boy. I wanted so bad to build one of those things. This would be tempting if it wasn't so far away and if it had a bigger engine with it. I think it's a cool airplane, even though it wouldn't fit my type of flying. I'm more of a back-country sort of guy, and the Davis is a cross-country airplane better suited to pavement. Still...

Some guys have built these airplanes in six months. They're really well-designed for that, and perform well on lower power, but they get their speed from small wings. Therefore, they don't glide very far. My Jodel suffers a similar glide ratio.

People seem to be happy with the 65HP it was designed for but apparently it becomes very impressive with 100HP. There's at least one corvair conversion flying and I have 2 late model corvair engines in the shop. If I end up finishing the build, I may have to consider dropping one in.

I think the O-200 in my Davis is exactly what the Dr. ordered. Still struggling with the prop choice however...

A guy who already has an engine asked me if I would sell the kit apart from the Lycoming.
I would. Aluminum sheeting, plexiglas, fuselage frame, plans, etc, etc, etc for $3500 less engine. Thx. Andy
