Hello All!

Does anyone know, is it relatively easy and inexpensive to convert a Rotax 583 into an airplane powerplant? I sure hope so....Somehow one ended up mysteriously in my garage today .

Thanks in advance for any information!

Not sure about the 583's, I know one of the big issues is the bolt pattern on the case for a PRSU. some of the early rotax engines dont have a provision for a gear box or maybe even a normal belt prsu. A non aircraft engine will be a single ign I imagine. While it can be converted to dual ign if you wish, parts can be pretty pricey for rotax engines. Not to say it cant be done, but it might be less in the end to buy a engine intended for aircraft use. I have been in used 2 stroke hell for the last year, I now realize (like so many have already said on here a thousand times) that I would have way better off just buying a reman engine from one of the reputable guys out there or a new one. But then again, I didnt want to tinker with a engine on my ul....just go fly.
