Steve Bennett's assembly manual for the GPAS aero conversion mentions that "camshafts used in longer stroke engines need to have about .060" of their diameter removed between the cam lobes. Also, the back side of the thrust surface needs to be machined so the connecting rod will not hit it when the connecting rod is at bottom dead center...All of the GPAS camshafts used in stroked engines are pre-machined."
My build is an 82mm stroker.
Looking at the C-25 cam that came with my GPAS kit, I don't see any obvious signs that this machining was undertaken.
Presumably, if I go with a different camshaft, it will not have been done.
Do you folks find this clearancing is needed generally?
Any suggestions about ways to do it?
