My airplane has two wing tanks on it that look like they haven't been used in a long time.

I want to make one useable for fuel, and the other useable for smoke oil.

The tanks have a tacky honey colored residue in them that doesn't look like sealant. I suspect that it is varnish from fuel being left in the tanks unused.

It isn't a problem for me to remove the aux tanks and the fuel lines leading from them to the fuel selector.

My question is, how do I clean them up before reinstalling them?

Thanks,
Glenn
