No longer in production, but second hand kits still available - the Avid Flyer meets ALL of your requirements.

Fly Scared's suggestions were also good... add Quicksilver to his list.

Friend of mine is building a Challenger II . That would meet your requirements and would be a nice aircraft with a HKS engine. Dan

isn't the Avid flyer still going by another company?? maybe I'm mistaken..??
It's a little confusing. I think the current rights-holder (I forget his name) is not doing anything but does not want to give up the rights. Airdale makes parts and what basically amounts to a clone, but they are a small operation and lag in their customer response time. John McBean seems to be making a decent go of it with the Kitfox design, which is very similar to the Avid (started off as an Avid clone/copy under Dan Denney).

ah ok. I thought the kitfox was a direct decendant, not a clone/copy. Even with the kitfox, didn't they make an ultralight version and sold the rights to Belite??

these things get very confusing indeed!

if you want a faster design the Bede BD-18 (new version of the Yankee) is a quick build 2 place. It uses honeycomb panels to keep the weight down. Great performance. I can't find a kit price.
I need 3 seats plus XC baggage, so I am almost ready to buy a BD-4C kit.

I can't find a kit price.
Neither I.
"It can be built from scratch using plans incorporating a “fast-build” material kit".... I think Mr. Bede an I have a different idea of a "fast-build kit"...

Fisher celebrity?
Why, yes. I will include the Super Koala as a representative though, because of the lower price and more common configuration.

I really wish there was just a thread that had all homebuilt aircraft sorted by num of seats and material used and an approx cost to build. Then sticky the thread and add on to it whenever a new one releases. Every pilot who sees one is missing comments on it and it is added to the list.

(p.s. I think listing anything beyond USD 15000 is not useful in this context)

What you're describing is the Kitplanes Buyer's Guide: KITPLANES The Independent Voice for Homebuilt Aviation - Aircraft Directory Directions

Unfortunately it's not 100%, but it's the best thing we've got.
