Being a wanna be student pilot (I havent trained in over a year. Money) I am struggling to understand empty weight and max take off weight. My buddy has purchased a C150 and he knows less than I do as he has no ticket either. Anyway, I understand the empty weight and the MTOW to be a difference of about 500 lbs. This is confusing. Wikipedia says the fuel capacity is 22.5 gallons. 22.5x6lbs=135lbs+ 2 people @200lbs=535lbs. So according to these calc's you are overweight already and you haven't even brought your tooth brush with you, never mind your lunch or an overnight bag/tent. Am I looking at this wrong? Anyone help?
