Hello
People spend lots of time and money to build thier home built and putt around until they learn how to fly it well. The new home built can have a new or zero timed engine in it. To properly break in a new engine requires high load (70-100% power) for the FIRST 100 hours. You can give it to somebody experianced in the type or do some thing else. Not broke in properly will glaze the cylinders, use oil, and not last very long.

The proper thing to do is break in the engine! If the builder can't do it flying some way else has to be used. What does it cost? 100 hours times about 8 gallons an hour equals 800 gallons. Multiply this times what gasoline costs you. 800 gallons times $6.00 a gallon for 100LL equals $4800.00 dollars.
