So...I am doing a bunch of maintenance on the Davis, and while I had the wheels off, I looked at the brake linings. They will probably be fine for another year, but since I have it all appart I figured "why not".
After doing a quick google search, it appears that to replace linings, one needs to un-rivet the old ones and re-rivet the new ones. I guess I expected to simply replace the entire pressure plate and everything so no riveting was needed...more of a bolt-on solution so the fluid system wouldn't have to be opened up.
The brakes I have are Cleveland 30-9's. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill here? Is it difficult to do this correctly? I will probably consult an A&P anyway, but if I can just "whip it out" that would be better than having to wait for the A&P.
Anyway, not having actually done this before, are there any tips/tricks that I should know about?
Thanks
