Bonding wood and composites

Does anyone have any experience with bonding composites to wood? I'm looking into creating a composite spar that will bond to wood ribs. I understand that Mark Brown who created the Starlite incorporated a composite spar into his wing and still used the wood ribs and skin. Since the source of good spar wood is getting harder and harder (that is what I have been told) I'm looking into all posibile options. Looking into a sailplane design with a 18 to 21 meter wing.

What I need to know...any particular composites are better then others for this bonding question? Should you use a composite adhesive over one suited for wood use???
