I have come across a kit builder who has a new model they would like to bring to market, design is done, and they are slowly making the models.
They need a beta customer, and would offer a really good discount to be the beta customer.
The plane meets or exceeds almost every metric I want except one. I want to burn Jet-A, but can live without it and burn mogas instead.

The kit builder has been around for a few years, but most of the engineering team has been part of multiple successful designs over the past thirty years.

My problem is I would be in way over my head evaluating the design, or how realistic the specs are. So I figure I need to have a professional evaluate the design.
So I have a few questions.
1. What general questions should I be asking before I hire a professional?
2. Any ideas on what it will cost me to hire a professional to sanity check the kit builder?
3. Any recommendations for an individual or firm to do the validation?
