So I got to watch a funny sight this week...

Had almost 20 people in the hangar; having a longer serious discussion about a destructive test that had - unexpected outcomes.

In rolls my hangar neighbor - with his latest bd-5(a? short wings ) acquisition, complete with a fresh layer of barn dust.

"Want to try it on?" (it's an original Bede supplied hirth with a lot of scrap aluminum surrounding it - cringes not required; will never be / could never be airworthy)

I have never seen men aged from 18-70 jump over each other more just for a chance to sit in it and make airplane sounds.

What is it about that Darn BD-5 that's made it such a cultural icon / ??? 50 years later - it's no less popular; even with the well known widowmaker reputation.
