I would like to start a discussion on some of the basics of aircraft design so others ( like me ) who are setting up a design can get the basics right before we get into other stuff like cosmetics and looks - just an idea but here is a question to kick it off

Some of the french 80 HP types like Colombans MC 100 80 HP run the engine straight with no offset and depend on rudder during the take off to keep things straight - do you think its good practice ?
