CAUTIONTHIS COULD TURN INTO A RANT :mad: :angry:
Like anything in Australia, it takes our governmental bodies ages to figure out how to rule things (and stay popular), unless the media gets hold of it.
Then the old kneejerk approach takes hold and everyone (except the guilty:eek: ) takes it in the goullies. :wail:
In 2001, a dozen assorted passengers took control of four aircraft with simple packaging knives, and committed one of the most calculated terrorist attacks on the Western World.
Now, 4 years after 9/11, the Australian goverment has come up with it's solution......
Screw everybody that wants to have anything to do with flying aircraft!!
To that end, anyone that wants to fly a plane must (by Jan 2006) have a PHOTO licence and a special security pass called an ASIC (Aviation Security Identity Card), which will only be issued after being investigated by ASIO (the Australian CIA), AND the Australian Federal Police (our FBI I guess) for criminal backgrounds, :rolleyes: then all you have to do is fork over around $180 and you get a TWO year card!! :wail:
Only $49 goes to the Goverment, the rest is used/kept by the PRIVATE companies that have been contracted to do all the paperwork.
Wait two years and REPEAT!!!
And this is going to stop passengers from flying around Australia to different cities so they can back up trucks full of fertilizer to major infrastructure points? :confused:
This is typical of our goverments mentallity, things like;
-Some crims use stolen guns for crime, answer ban all private gun ownership,
-A couple of kids get hurt on 'Cracker night', answer ban all fireworks,
-A pedestrian claims serious injury from a 'bull bar' (a nudge bar?), answer try to ban bull bars!
The list goes on..
Any comments?
Arthur.
