The Anywhere Map people (Control Vision) also offer a line of pre-made aircraft electrical switch panels and related items called EXP Bus:
Anywhere Map - EXP Bus Products - all
The line includes a both a toggle-switch set-up mounted through holes in your instrument panel and a complete rocker switch set up with front plate, and both can run an optional indicator panel to show faults with a integral dimmer.
Obviously, any pre-made electrical panel may not be exactly what you want or need and require some work arounds, but it does look like a huge time saver for not much money. These panels don't use conventional fuses or circuit breakers but instead use solid-state positive temperature coefficient (PTC) devices to cut off power to a circuit in an overload and keep it off as long as the power is still on. Switch off the offending element and the after 15 secs or so the circuit is usable again.
This one inexpensive little circuit board -- Anywhere Map - Avionics Ex-Tender -- looks like you could combine it with, say, three toggle-type circuit breakers (master, fuel pump, avionics/accessories) and seven miniature toggle switches to create a nice little lightweight panel.
I know very little about electrical systems and welcome advice from those who know more.
Cheers,
Matthew
