Hi everyone,
I've been planning on building a Bearhawk for quite some time, and it's definitely going to happen sometime in the next 10 years. I looked at finances a couple of nights ago, and realized I'm going to have to set the Bearhawk aside for awhile. So, I'm looking for a plans built airplane...I'd really like it to be able to run on Sonex's AeroVee, because for the price it's pretty hard to beat (and I've done work on said engines before).
Requirements:
1) 2 seater (and can legitimately carry two people)
2) Fly safely on 80 HP
3) Any material other than composite
4) Good flying characteristics (this will be the airplane I spend my first few hundred hours in, so having something that handles well is a good thing)
5) Plans built
6) Cheap plans...I'll have about $1-1.5K/year for the next three years on this until the cars are paid off, so if the plans cost $900 (attn Littner designs) that sets me back a year.
7) Taildragger is preferred
I flipped through the Kitplanes from January 2010 which has their plans-built buyers guide. Planes that seem to fit the above criteria:
Acrolite 2M Acrolite2M
Christavia MK1 or MK2 CHRISTAVIA MK-1 MK-2 from Aircraft Spruce
Cubmajor http://falconaravia.com/
F11E http://falconaravia.com/
HM 380 http://falconaravia.com/
Sonerai II The Sonerai II, The Original Design
Buttercup LuceAir ~ Plans, Kits, and Other Items for Sale
Pietenpol
RW20 Stork RagWing Aircraft Design, plans for proven replica models
RW22 Tigermoth RagWing Aircraft Design, plans for proven replica models
Dakotahawk Dakota Hawk
Horizon 2 Horizon2
Does anyone have any comments on any of the above, or any that I should add for consideration?
