Upcoming Event: Amboy Fall Ride & Fly-In

Come out it Amboy in Sunday Nov. 8th for some distanced dissidence in the desert: Cars, Planes, and Amboy. Main event is 1100-1500.

Amboy has a 4000’ long dirt/gravel runway on BLM land adjacent to the historic Roy’s Motel and Gas Station. It’s the desert in November; so the weather may be fantastic! Land at own risk out of own self interest. Freq. 122.900
.

Damnit. Rain and showers forecast all weekend around Riverside. Amboy might be ok, bit i might have a hard time getting out of here.

The hard part will be getting over the hills or through that pass if you take the low route. In any sort of weather or winds, the Cajon Pass is likely to get pretty treacherous. It may be flyable down in Riverside and through Corona or east of Ontario, but you may well have the mountains rising up into the clouds by the time you get to Redlands.

You could possibly make an end run East through Banning Pass and go around through 29 Palms, a lot of times the moisture and cloud deck stop before they get that far East. But if 80-90% of the people from the SoCal area are not going to be able to get there, it's not much of a fly-in I guess.
