I was wondering how long does aluminum landing gear usually last? Can they be used on grass strips and pavement, even when loaded to gross weight? Most importantly, what happens when they fail? Do they begin to sag like normal springs, or will they snap like a paper clip?

It looks like they can save 18 pounds over steel landing gear, and considering about half of that is unsprung wieght that sounds really good. This is the product http://www.groveaircraft.com/rv8.html I learned about it at http://www.lazy8.net/gear.htm

Thank you for the help.
