I spent many years in heavy haul,

I think if you include all the costs,escorts, police escorts ,spotters,Utility men and tow trucks the last 2 miles of that move cost around $20, 000 per mile
LOL, I made this cynical moment for those similarities in Australia, sounds like you have the same issues ...

Moving a P-51 Replica would get you more grace than just normal freight.

If you were pulled over by the authorities it would be highly likely that they would want to take picture and talk about the plane versus issuing a citation. Especially if you are a just a "regular guy" trying to get your baby home.

The only issues I have ever had moving airplanes cross country have been the absurd number of rubber-neckers and tail-gaters trying to study the plane while traveling the interstate.
