My aversion to adding air guiding vanes is the consideration that they will add drag. But I have no idea how much. Of course turbulent air or air not reaching some areas of radiator or cooler surface is non-optimal too.

Looking at rv6ejguy's and Sherwood Glassair SVX belly diffuser vanes, they look rather thick.

Optimal shape for air duct (diffuser) guide vanes?
A thin (0.02) aluminum sheet?
Thicker (glass) rounded front and thin rear?
Something else?

How far from the inlet lip should the vane(s) start?
