I bet this is something not many people know ( I certainly didn't) - you start the 262's engines just like your Rotax 503! Or your lawnmower for that matter - pull on the string. Which gets the little two stroke ( I think a Hirth) going which then spools up the turbine.
There is something VERY odd about starting a jet fighter like this!
