Hi All,

I am building a 2180cc VW engine and looking at around 75hp max. A wood prop with a max. diameter of 70 inches.

For the VW guys, what thickness is a typical VW prop crush plate? It looks like they vary from around .250 (1/4 inch) to .500 (1/2 inch) thickness.

I will fab up one out of 2024T3 plate and finish machine it on the lathe and mill. I was thinking conservative and going with .375 (3/8 inch) thick. There are no other flying examples of the plane I'm building, except the prototype, and that used a Rotax engine. The designer is fine with using a VW motor as long as the engine weight is within limits.
