I'm currently working on the completion of my BD5T and I've run into an issue that I'm having a hard time with, I figured I'd post it here to see if I could get any leads on a solution.

The engine is a Solar T62 2A1 and it has a 2-pole tachometer generator used for percent RPM (Aircraft Appliance & Electronics p/n: TG 255-002). I'm using the GRT EIS4000 digital engine monitor for space saving on the panel (like there is sooo much room on the BD5 panel, haha). My issue is that I know very little about the tach generator and how it should be wired and what parameters to set into the EIS unit so that it reads the signal and interprets it correctly. Currently when I engage the starter it just reads N1% RPM "0" and does not change. I do know that 4200 RPM will be 100% N1 as far as the accessory gear box is concerned.

So far I've talked to GRT and didn't get very far with them (their EIS guru was out sick with the flu), I've talked to Skeeter @ BD-Micro and same...what I'm waiting on now is AAE (the manufacturer) to get back to me with hopefully a data sheet or service manual for the generator so I can verify that it is working and to wire it correctly. I'd really like to know the pulses per revolution and correct wiring to a single sensing tach wire.

Currently the generator is grounded @ the cannon plug (checked), there are 2 wires that go to the tach generator, one pole wire is wired to the correct wire to the tach signal wire on the EIS unit. The 2nd wire is not hooked up to anything, but has been run partially through the wiring loom into the cockpit, for what, I don't know? I've tried grounding the 2nd wire and it does not change anything.

Anyway, if anyone knows about this particular tachometer generator or has any experience in like what is mentioned above please post away....until then I'll be patiently waiting to hear back from AAE for some paperwork and/or maintenance procedures on this thing.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Patrick
