For all of you that are Piper Cub fans.
I have been storing a 1939 Cub Sport for a friend of mine for over 10 years. Its a 1939 Cub Sport ( J-3 is not listed on the data plate) Just Cub Sport. Manufactured 4/19/1939. Came new with a 3 piece windshield, tail skid, brake master cylinders are on the outside of the bottom of the fuselage,(1937 Plymouth auto cast iron master cylinders). The tail surfaces have 2 hinges each like a J-2 instead of 3 like a J-3. Instead of a mag switch, there are 2 push/pull buttons on the left side. No rear window frames, the rear windows is put in the fabric. Came new with a 50 HP Franklin engine, now has a 65 HP Lyc engine. Has a box that extends forward on the lower firewall for your feet on the front rudder pedals. Cowling is completely different from a J-3. Is this a transition model between the J-2 and J-3 ?
