Has anyone had any experience with a company that re-babbitts bearings? There are many out there, but usually for different applications, from locomotives to Model T's.

NOS Ranger main bearings are now pretty much non-existent. The shells are very substantial and I see no reason why they couldn't be re-coated. The original bearing material was a silver-cadmium-type, but a fairly hard diesel-type babbitt would work, I'm sure. These vintage engines will get babied and looked after and if the bearings need to be replaced a little sooner, so be it. I would rather the bearing wears a little faster if it extends the life of the crank.

Any ideas welcome.
