Plans for the GOAT are free. Add a really light engine and you may be OK as is.

The goat isn't exactly generous with payload. You'd need a light pilot as well as a light engine.

As mentioned below the Goat already has a low payload ability so the motor will eat into that. However there is a guy who built a supergoat with the Yando Wing increased wingspan mods and a smaller 150cc engine I think.
    Here is a link: http://supergoatgliders.weebly.com/about.html

Yes the Zigolo is a bit pricy and was looking heavily into the Supergoat or EMG-6 when I found a damaged zigolo and bought that. I am 3 months or so from getting back into the air with one evening a week work availability. I am very impressed with the Zigolo's build and would recommend it. New it would have been out of my price range as well, but not too far off the price of a Phoenix 103 which is a similar ultralight. Chip had his for sale on barnstormers for about 8k a few months back.
You might contact him to see if he sold it. http://aeromarine-lsa.com/zigolo-mg/

The EMG-6 I found would build way to heavy to actually soar in a thermal and the Zigolo is a middle ground option in sinkrate between the goat and EMG-6. The EMG-6 would likely work OK in ridge lift if you have that option near you.

    Re: Motorized Goat

I guess I would like to see something between the Goat and the EMG. Those para motors are an engineering marvel, and reflective in the super high price. Thor 250, in comparison seems reasonably priced. I think a little higher wing loading is needed for my use.
Thanks Dana for the Bloop, the free standing center section is nice.
I don't believe I have ever seen an empty weight for the EMG.
One thing for sure, there is a lot of interest in this type of AC. The EC Goat, (easy composites), has a very nice example, although non-motorized. I wish they would execute the airframe in CF tube. Say bye bye to 10lbs of AN bolts!

    Re: Motorized Goat

Ben I thought you were already100% committed to the EMG-6, based on numerous posts that you made. If you are buildign an EMG-6, as you had indicated, then what is your level of interest in a GOAT?

    Re: Motorized Goat

How about a small electric motor on the Goat and carry the batteries in the wings as a distributed load so they don’t impact the structural gross weight (much)? Is there a light weight solar option?

    Re: Motorized Goat

VB, I contacted Rainbow Aviation and inquired about the desired CofG and got no response. That pissed me off. So I am just look in around still.
I believe it is the solution I am look in 4, but am not crazy about the extended prop shaft. Executed for 2 reasons, CofG and to get the prop in the slip stream.
This year I am remodeling my old house. Big job.High $$$.
I think I am gonna whip out an Airbike with a Poloni Thor 250 as the prime mover, till I complete all of my stress testing, sand bag loading etc., not to mention engine experimentation.
