I'm not a pilot, and would like to fly powered sailplanes. I'm studying the various manuals from the FAA (I'm in Southern Utah in the US), and saving money as well as loosing weight (6'2" 240lbs) as none of the trainer planes around here are able to accommodate me with an instructor. I would love to build something like the Sunseeker Duo.

Anyways, I came across http://www.nestofdragons.net/weird-airplanes/tandemwings/maurice-delanne-duo-mono/ and sketched an X-wing variant with a the classic sailplane type fuselage

Think a pusher prop, or in the impractical spirit of the plane, a ducted fan in the rear.

I was thinking that perhaps the channeled air by the higher swept forward wing would give the rear horizontal and vertical surfaces some actual control?

Wheels integrated into the vertical stabilizers.
