Sitting in the house today looking at the 21 bellow zero chill factor outside and my mind slipped back to the day I found my Stinson, or maybe it found me?? there she was stuck in the ice, Feb. in North Dakota. Wy take three days to get it unstuck you ask? well after 30 min. in the hanger with no heat I started to feel like ice myself. Dig and chip, Dig and chip, "Dam its cold" I say and head off to the warmth of the house and sitting there cussing myself for leaving the task unfinished. What was worse is knowing that old bird sitting there shivering, Well in my mind it was! I have a stroke of genious HOT WATER , sure just pour a couple of gallons at the tail wheel and walla she'll be free, Mission on!! Guess what? big mistake, Yep made things worse. Well it was the coldest, and greatest 3 days I spent that winter, frost bite healed up fine and the Stinson finally found a warm shop to sit in.. Man ya just got to love this winter stuff and the flying and building that goes with it................Don J
