    Clear Douglas Fir at Lowe's

    I found 42 2x4's (8ft) of 100% clear Douglas Fir at Lowe's for $3.24 each. They were at the bottom of a full stack of lumber on one of the overhead racks.     No insurance for teens

    My 15 year-old is ready to take lessons in our C-172. I went to renew our policy through Falcon and was told the underwriter won't insure anyone under 17. He also said he didn't think anyone else would either. So just how the hell is a kid going to learn to fly?

    Wood Preservative

    EAA's book, Wood Aircraft Building Techniques, mentions using wood preservatives such as pentachlorophenol in wood structures. Though I've used the stuff for fence posts etc., I've never heard anything else about using it in aircraft. I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this
