    Dynon Autopilot Servos

I've removed the following servos after not being able to get the autopilot system to work satisfactorily, through no fault of the servos. They have little time installed and very little use. There are three available: Capstain SV42: http://jaredyates.com/temp/20190408_103618.jpg Long Arm SV42L...

    Engine mount question

It is common to need to flex the mount a little on the firewall end. A quarter inch would certainly be within limits in most cases. I can't speak to the engine end, having not used that kind if mount.

    Adverse Yaw

And why gliders with their long skinny wings also often have plenty of adverse yaw! One of our local old timers was telling me about flying the C-46 military transport. He said the adverse yaw was so strong that he could steer it down the runway by operating the ailerons in reverse, such as...

Skydiving, and EXP planes to jump out of

Item number 20 on my phase 2 Operating Limitations issued in December 2013 says "This aircraft must not be used for glider towing, banner towing, or intentional parachute jumping." There is going to be variation from one homebuilt to the next, but expect something similar in most circumstances.

Maule Tailwheel, Polyfiber Reducer, Stratoflex Tubing

Here are a few hangar cleanout items. Maule SFS-P8A-1-2 Tailwheel Assembly Includes tire and tube. All have been installed on my homebuilt airplane but have not flown. The chains and springs are not included. ACS price for a new one is $380, which I assume includes a tire. Mine has some...

Pitot Tube with static and dynamic ports from Steen

I have one just like this: https://secure.steenaero.com/Store/site/product.cfm?id=B6853D82-102E-BB20-1868CF89D388401B that has been installed but not flown. It measures pitot and static pressure through a coaxial design in the tube. I'd like to get $100 for it.

    Passenger Warning Placards

I had a batch of placards made up for use as passenger warnings in experimental aircraft. They are 2x3.5 inches and are made from a thin aluminum plate with black lettering. Here's a picture with a cleco for size reference: The price is $5 each, with $2 Domestic USPS shipping regardless...

    preceptor aircraft

I must agree, having read everything that is posted here, how could someone want to embark on a long-term project involving these airplanes? I can see how the guys who are stuck are hanging in there to try and recover parts or money, but for someone who doesn't even have plans yet, there are so...

    Bearhawk Questions!

You can get a pre-welded fuselage from Avipro, but in my case, I've decided to weld additional parts onto it as well. It's nearly impossible for a manufacturer to add enough tabs to accommodate so many builders and so many different configurations. When I was deciding about which airplane to...

    Prop Governor Drive Splines

The part that I'm talking about is the silver bit that sticks out of the governor. Here's another shot of the woodward governor that does fit into the engine (left) and the Hartzell in question (right): http://jaredyates.com/bearhawk/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/P1000289.jpg I'm not sure about...

    Prop Governor Drive Splines

I took a chance on an inexpensive prop governor for my Lycoming 360, and I don't think I'm going to be able to use it. My plan is to sell it to offset the cost of overhauling a Woodward governor that I have, but I'm not sure about how to advertise it. I know that the drive spline doesn't fit...

I need a disign for big boys

One great way to look at lots of designs in one place is to go to a show like Sun-N-Fun or Oshkosh. Last year at Oshkosh a 7-foot tall gentleman sat in the Bearhawk on display and was able to fit comfortable. Also, all of the side-by-side airplanes (with two sets of rudder pedals with brakes)...

    Looking for Bendix Mag Documentation

Thanks for the help. I am OK with using general techniques, but I wanted to be sure that there weren't any more specific instructions that might supersede them. I was especially interested in how to hook up the p-lead shields, but I think I have it figured out. I put a ring terminal on the...

    Looking for Bendix Mag Documentation

Does anyone know of a source for documents related to Bendix S4 series magnetos? If there are any installation or timing instructions available, I wanted to be sure to follow them, but this is all that I've been able to find so far...

Hartzell Props: 7666 Blades vs 8477 Blades

Here's an interesting note about the damper issue that I came across while doing more research: http://www.vansaircraft.com/pdf/Hartzell_c2yk.pdf Hartzell HC-C2YK-1BF/F7666A-2 Propeller on 180 Hp Lycoming engines equipped with Electronic Ignition or FADEC The Hartzell Propeller Model...

Piet engine question " just a wondering "

There is a quote in Wynne's book that says something like there are more members in the national corvair club than there are in all of the EAA. I found a local guy with 42 engines stashed away, and there are frequently guys like that in most larger towns. Sometimes they are still in the...

    Main Wheel Pants

I'm looking for a set of main wheel pants that are large enough to accommodate a set of 6x600 tires. This is the stock tire size on most Cessna main wheels if I remember correctly. No PMA or paperwork is necessary. If you have a set that is taking up space in your shop, let me know...

    Best 4 Seat Homebuilt??

I'll add another vote for the Bearhawk. It is a great airplane to fly, can take lots of stuff, and the techniques for construction are within reach of almost any homebuilder. Best of all, it has sprightly performance with a 4-cylinder Lycoming, which means much less cost in initial purchase...
