    I'm shocked. Shocked, I say.

Position of dragwires in wing bays

As noted by others, #1 is not good as it will put bending loads on a compression member. #3 will put additional bending loads on the spars. If you really want to know which is best, build a small model. Doesn't need to be to scale. Build three identical structures with the same materials...

Agreed. Some people should be deeply ashamed of themselves.

We've got a lane departure warning, but no lane keeping. And if the lane departure warning goes off too often, it will pop up a little suggestion on the instrument panel that you stop and walk around, get some coffee. I'm not making this up, it happened on the way home after we bought the...

My wife's car (3 year old Volvo) will keep a safe following distance on the highway or in city traffic. Auto throttle and brake, and it's really good. New/fancier cars have lane following so you don't have to actually drive on the highway... most of the time. Just as backup cameras went from...

    Plywood suppliers???

So what are you complaining about? You get to remodel your showroom almost every year on someone else's nickel? Sheesh, some guys would complain if you hung 'em with a new rope. :)

    Plywood suppliers???

Indeed. I have read one NTSB report of a Celebrity with an in-flight breakup. Wings folded. Fatal, of course. Builder had not built the spars to plans... at all. Maybe I could use 48" lengths, spliced properly, and put the splices in locations where they wouldn't be a problem. I don't...

    Plywood suppliers???

I did. Very nice to deal with, shipping is very reasonable, spar webs would cost several times what I’ll end up paying for the plywood for them and a lot of other parts. Maybe. Maybe not. I'm certainly not qualified to make that call... and since I'm able to find what the plans call for at...

    Plywood suppliers???

Fisher Celebrity. The plans call for webs made from 60" pieces of 1/8 ply, cut cross grain -- meaning, face plies with grain running vertical. Why did the designer do it that way? I have no idea, the "why" is not detailed in the plans. Might have just been what he had on hand for all I know...

    Plywood suppliers???

If you need 5' sheets, ACS and Wick's can't help you. My plans call for 60" long, cross grain pieces for spar webs. Can't get that from a 4x8 sheet. That was my whole problem. When I need 48" sheets, Spruce will be much cheaper.

    Plywood suppliers???

A full size sheet of plywood... yeah, I can see that. Truck freight, large item, and they'll need to protect it probably with 2 more sheets of OSB or something. I'm dreading needing to order 4x8 sheets that can't be cut in half for shipping. With 60" sheets cut in half, they can ship UPS...

    Plywood suppliers???

I can see paying reasonable shipping costs, but $200 "crating charge" for a few 60" x 15" pieces of ply, then another $300 to ship that? No thanks. The other place I talked to (also Canadian) was $40 to ship, but the cost of the plywood was outrageous. Three times what I'd expect to pay...

    Plywood suppliers???

How perfectly timed this discussion is! Not only am I looking to source some aircraft plywood, I need it in 60" sheets. My spar webs are specified as cross-grain plywood, 60" long. Of course neither Aircraft Spruce nor Wicks carries it that size, and you can't get that from a 4' x 8' sheet...
